Product Description

Play your iPod, MP3 player, or other audio device through your brand-name car stereo with this auxiliary input cable. The cable features a pair of RCA connectors on one side and an auxiliary input jack on the other. To use, merely plug the RCA connectors into your car stereo's dual RCA inputs, then run the retractable 3.5 mm male cable between the auxiliary input jack and your audio device's 3.5 mm headphone output. Once connected, you can enjoy your complete iPod, MP3, or CD library through your car's stereo speakers. The cable also works with the iPod video, letting you plug directly into single or dual headrest monitors with RCA inputs. The auxiliary input-- which works with any brand-name car stereo with RCA inputs--is backed by a 90-day warranty.

I bought this to add an auxiliary input to my stock Honda Civic car stereo. Of course I had to buy a separate converter $50 to plug into the back of the stereo in the cd changer input. Then I simply plugged this into the adapter giving me a place to plug in my mp3 player.

The silver ring you see in front actually unscrews. I threw away the large black piece and drilled the appropriately sized hole where I wanted the mp3 input mounted and placed it there and screwed the silver ring back on the outside to securely hold it in place. Now, I have a permanent mp3 input where I want it and it only took about 15 minutes to put it in. You don't have to be a stereo expert to do this and it looks very nice and professional. I recommend this product if you don't plan on replacing your OEM stereo with an aftermarket one.
Works, but bad workmanship

I used this to add a MP3 player to my car. I thought about making my own cable, but this was cheap enough that I used it instead. I removed the 3.5mm jack from its holder and mounted it in my ashtray. As I was working with it, one of the solder joints on the jack broke off. When I cut away the shrink tubing, I found the other two wires with really flimsy solder joints and an overall sloppy job. I ended up restripping the wires and resoldering them. Looks hundred times better. Other than that, works as advertised; just handle it very gently.
